Crazy Delhi Bed & Breakfast

How do I begin to explain the Bed & Breakfast situation in Delhi??? I guess that the main thing is that the father in the family is CRAZY!!!! There were some good parts to the experience, but basically he tried to control us and treat us like children while we were there...Let me rephrase that...He DID control us and treat us like HIS children... Poor kids!!! Hahaha!!!!! The good thing about that experience was that if it wasn't for him telling us what to see and getting his driver to take us around then we probably wouldn't have seen as much of Delhi as we did since the Bed & Breakfast wasn't as central as the hotel in Mumbai...After the fact, we also believe that he overcharged us a little bit, but at least we are out of there now!!! On our way to the bus station (parking lot) yesterday, he took us to this South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant for breakfast and somewhat forced us to try these various dishes when neither of us are big breakfast people..We finally put our foot down and said NO!!! A little awkward that he would take his "guests" out to breakfast...Also, he kept on repeating when we were at his house that he never charges guests for alcohol...We think that the reason why he doesn't charge is so that his guests will hang out with him...Hahaha!!! We also did meet some very nice people while we were there...The first night there was a French woman and a Pakistani man...Then the second and third night there was a family from India...The last night we were all alone with him!!! All VERY nice, and the crazy hosts wife was very nice, so he was the only crazy one...:) They also had a dog, named Whiskey, who somehow I managed to make friends with by the end!!! He mentioned to us on day one that both of his boys had arranged marriages and he had hoped that they would have stayed close to him so that the women would have children, which is what he dreamed of when his two boys got married, and he could see them often... It turns out that one of the boys moved to San Francisco and the other one lives in another part of Delhi...The daughter still lives at home...I don't want to sound negative but no wonder why the boys moved out...Hahaha!!! It was quite an experience and if India is exhausting, imagine how that experience was for 4 days!!!!!! We are in Jaipur now (arrived yesterday afternoon after a 6 1/2 hour bus ride) and that's why we are taking a day of "rest" today!!!

Ur experience at the Bed & breakfast is extremely funny.

And your travel itinerary is exhaustive. Since you are in India til March 18th. I suggest you make a visit to Amritsar to see Golden Temple & Wagah border (Indian border with Pakistan). Its a 1.5 day drip

Do not miss Rajasthan either. There is loads to see in Jaipur, Udaipur & Pushkar. All in 4 days.

Its good to see snaps of Stockholm in ur previous trip. Scandinavia is a wonderful place to visit. I was seaching for Bed & breakfast in Delhi on Google and saw ur blog in the results. If you can pass me his contact details, I will really appreciate. Thanks.

HI,

Thank you for the comment on my blog...Glad that you were able to find some useful information from it just by typing a search topic into google...I mean, it was quite the experience staying at this hostel...I don't think that I would reccommend it...It was quite overbearing and he was very controlling as I mentioned in my blog...What brings you to Delhi??? Where are you from? I am in the process of travelling around the world...Thanks for the advice on India...My brother and I have actually travelled to India together and are in Jaipur now... It's funny that you mentioned it!!! Anyway, I hope that this information helps you!!!

Hi,

I really hope that you're liking Jaipur. It's so rich in culture. There was an annual Elephant festival last week. The palaces & forts are really worth seeing. And there is a lot for you to shop there.

My last suggestion (assuming that you will have only an evening left in Delhi once you return from Jaipur) will be to see the new age India too.. So do visit Turquoise Cottage's basement (its near Qutab Minar in South Delhi) on Friday/Saturday night for good music & shots.. Your trip to India will be complete once you know the real diversity.. You should take back memories of the pious sight as well the young vibrant spendthrift youth enjoying freedom with music till wee hours..

As for me I'm an Indian residing in Delhi. I travel a lot all throughout the year.. My last International trip was to Europe while I was studying in Copenhagen in Winter'05. And the last domestic trip was to Kolkatta in the east.

I am doing a research on accomodations in the city and so I googled for B&B. I wanted to interview a few families running B&Bs. So I asked you for the contact details. See if you can still help.

Really hope you go back with fond memories of my country. It really is incredible..
